The 20-year-old, who joined Luton from Leicester City in the summer of 2012, has made 52 appearances for the club and scored three times.

Last season saw Robinson made his breakthrough as he played 31 times, scoring important goals against Chester and Grimsby as Hatters romped to the Conference title.

He has featured seven times this campaign although had to miss three matches due to a harsh red card picked up against Shrewsbury Town.

Boss John Still told the club’s official website: “Matthew has shown enormous maturity for a player so young, especially last season when we had a very youthful midfield in the latter half of the campaign.

“He is one of many players that encapsulate what we are trying to do at this club.

“He’s young and hungry and always strives to better himself.

“Matthew is a great example to players of all ages because his attitude and work ethic has been second-to-none.

“He is a player who has already made a huge contribution to this club and we hope last season’s success is the first of many he will enjoy with Luton Town.”

Meanwhile, Robinson added: “It’s nice to have people put faith in you and with an extended deal shows that the manager and the staff want me here for the long haul.

“The manager has ambitions to take this club much higher than League Two, and to be a part of that would be amazing.”
