Still said: “Nathan coming on for his Football League debut, he looked dangerous, and I think he’ll be glad he’s got that out of the way.

“That will give him a little bit of an extra edge for the next time he plays.

“With Pelly (Ruddock Mpanzu) and Alex Lawless being out, Shaun’s (Whalley) done a good job, but we’ve missed it on both sides, getting past people.

“That little bit of pace that Andre (Gray) gave us and quickness of feet that Alex Lawless gives us, Pelly’s power and pace.

“We’ve missed that a little bit, so for him to get that game under his belt, he’ll be a lot better off for that and he showed he can go past people, that’s important.

“We’re adamant that was just inside the box for a penalty too, but it’s football.”

Fellow new signing Ryan Hall also made his first team debut, lasting for an hour, as Still added: “Scott (Griffiths) hadn’t been well so we put Jake (Howells) back in there.

“We wouldn’t have started with Ryan either, he needs to get up to speed.

“Our first half performance was very good, we were always were going to go for about an hour with Ryan and the two new boys should what they could do.”
