“We’re close with Smith, close with Doyle, close with Tyler, no Ruddock, no Griffiths.

“(Paul) Benson’s been involved, he might be close enough, we’ll see how reacts from today.

“Ryan Hall is back in training and has had a development game last week. We might use him on the bench as he’s getting closer.

“It might be the last five games are really big, so pushing people to play one and they might miss two.

“I’d sooner be as certain as I can possibly be before pushing them in, so hopefully another week.”

With Luton entering the home straight now, they remain outsiders for automatic promotion and face a battle on their hands to maintain a top seven spot too after a run of six defeats from seven.

He added: “For Luton Town now our season is nine games, we’ve got to get as many of those 27 points as we can and see where that takes us.

“One thing we feel is that if we can get automatic promotion, and to do that we need to win loads of games, or we if can do enough for the play-offs, our squad will look fitter.

“We’ll probably have more players available, so we’d go into that in decent shape, probably in the best shape we’ve been all season with Benson, Lawless, Guttridge, Smith, Doyle back, with (Steve) McNulty and (Luke) Wilkinson and Tyler.

“It’s been heavens hard work, so one thing I’m not going to do is criticise too much as I know how difficult its been and how hard people have worked to get fit and the attitude we have been playing with.

“We haven’t been playing well, but the attitude has been first class. Two-nil down in two games, we could have collapsed and go under, but we’ve never done that, we kept going.

“We remained unaffected by the scoreline and kept going and that shows a little bit of sunlight through the gap in the curtain.”
