Still hopes to sort out slow-starting Hatters

After losing 1-0 at Bury on Saturday, Still admitted he would watch games back against the Shakers, Accrington, Mansfield and AFC Wimbledon to try and find out the reasons behind Luton disappointing in the opening stages.

He said: “In my mind, I can see a little bit of a pattern and I think along the way of those games, there’s instances of players not playing as well as you’d like.

“Whatever system you do, people don’t always play well, that happens at times of the season for anyone. So there’s an element of that, performances not being as good as we’d like them.

“You can bring players into the team that haven’t been playing, bring one in now and again. But sometimes when it’s two or three, you can see they’re not as sharp as you would like them to be as they haven’t had as many games.

“I’ve got to look at myself a little bit as well, as we’ve slightly changed the system a little bit in some games to accommodate the fact that we would like to score some goals.

“In doing so you can disrupt other things, so its showed me a little bit of that as well. I’ve got a little bit of work to do on it and I’m glad I’ve done it.

“Will it help us? I’ll have to wait and see, but its given me some ideas.”

Despite a run of three defeats in four games, Luton remain fourth in the table, just five points off the top three.

Hatters’ lofty position is mainly down to their outstanding home form that has seen them undefeated in the league since September 6.

Still now wants them to continue that and turn the division into a ‘mini-league’ with 12 games remaining.

He added: “Our home form has been very, very good, I’m absolutely delighted with that.

“I’ve not been unhappy with our away form, I’ve been unhappy with our last few performances away.

“As I keep saying, with the players that have been missing, to even be in that group is an unbelievable achievement so far.

“Lets look at what we can do between now and the end of the season and make it almost a mini league, a 12 game season.”
