Still hopes U’s aren’t thinking of Manchester United

The U’s will travel to Old Trafford to take on the Premier League giants on Tuesday, but Still wants them fully focused on their League Two clash at Kenilworth Road first.

He said: “I hope they come here, up and at it, so it’s a proper game.

“Because our players get better by playing the best teams in the best form.

“That’s how we’ve improved as a team and to improve we have to compete and play against the best, individually and collectively.

“The way I look at it, between now and the end of the season, we’re going to have some tough, tough games.

“And if Cambridge as the Cambridge we know don’t turn up Saturday, is that going to be the best preparation for us?

“No. We want teams to turn up and play with pace and power and aggression and belief.

“Otherwise we’re going to stand still and to stand still is going backwards.”

When asked if he thought the United players would find it hard to focus with the FA Cup tie in the back of their minds, Still continued: “It could be, if I don’t play well, I might not play in that one. We’ve got to toss the coin and see what side it falls.

“If I was playing for Cambridge, I’d be saying I’ve got to do enough to make sure I play Tuesday, that’s how I see it.”

Hatters will come up against former loan star Cameron McGeehan at the weekend, with the midfielder making a fine start to his U’s career, netting three times in three games.

The midfielder admitted exclusively in the News/Gazette this week he would love to wear the Luton Town shirt again in the future as Still reiterated his hopes to one day sign him permanently.

He added: “Good luck to him, I’m pleased Cameron’s doing well

“It’s his own career, he’s got to look after himself. I think he’s made it known he would love to come here and we would love to have him.

“But to come here and in a month they might take him back, what would we do then? Short term loans are only if you really, really have to as at the middle of next month, they can take him back, that’s no benefit for us

“We would have him without any problems at all, but there’s no point in loaning him, he’s not our player.

“We’re strong in midfield anyway, but he’s a young player we think we could make better.

“I would love to able to do a deal to bring Cameron McGeehan in, but what they’re (Norwich) wanting for Cameron McGeehan is too much.”
