The Luton chief wants to add a player in the same mould as Paul Benson and his search has now intensified with the forward suspended for three games after seeing red at Stevenage on Saturday.

Speaking to the press this afternoon, Still said: “If we could do something with a forward we would, but whether we can or not we don’t know.

“That type of player is probably the one thing in the club we haven’t got good competition for. We tried in the summer to do something, but it wasn’t possible for what we wanted.

“So we’re not just going to take anything, we’ll try and get exactly what we want and if we can do it, we’ll do it.

“We’ll have a chat about it today, there’ll be talking and we’ll see if it’s possible.”

Still also confirmed that any deal would be done with something long-term in mind too, as he continued: “If we took the loan, it would be that we would make it permanent.

“There wouldn’t be any doubt about that, it would definitely be with a permanent involved.”

The boss is also hopeful to loan out some of his fringe players, as he added: “Certainly, we’d like to get one or two out. Matt Robinson is out on loan at Woking and that’s going to be renewed for another month.

“(Luke) Trotman’s the same (at Histon), Andy Parry, we’d like to get out before Thursday too.”
