Still may appeal McNulty’s dismissal

Town’s skipper was dismissed with five minutes left of his 100th appearance for the club, for a studs high challenge on the Minstermen’s Bradley Halliday.

But Still said: “Looking at it as quickly as we have, we may well have a proper look at it yes.

“I dont think it was a sending off. I’ve just seen it on the DVD, he clears the ball and the fella’s right in front of him.

“He hasn’t really caught him and his foot doesn’t change direction, but I’m not the referee. From where he was, he may have seen it differently.”

McNulty’s sending off wasn’t the only one of the night as York’s Jake Hyde was given his marching orders by official Charlies Brakespear for a tackle on Nathan Doyle.

Still continued: “From what I saw of theirs, if I’d have been refereeing the game from where I was standing, I’m not sure I’d have given a sending off.”

The boss also revealed his disappointment that centre half Alex Lacey, who replaced the injured Luke Wilkinson early in the second half, hadn’t informed Town’s coaching staff he was suffering with illness.

The youngster went straight home after the final whistle as Still said: “For young Alex Lacey, I’m not sure he was fully prepared when he came on. He’s gone home not well, so I need to look at that.

“He has to be responsible for if he’s not well, to exclude himself from being involved. Because he would normally do better for their two goals, he could have dealt with them very early, but we’ll have a look at that.

“I’m not necessarily blaming him for the goals, but if he’s not quite right, he’s got to put his hands up. Fair play to Scott Griffiths, he has done.”

With Wilkinson out and McNulty potentially starting a three game ban ahead of Carlisle United’s visit this weekend, Town could be down to the bare bones defensively with only Fraser Franks as a recognised centre half.

Still said: “I’m not going to worry about that now. We’ll get back in training and have a look at it. Whatever we need to do to adapt to, that’s fine.”

Meanwhile, Nathan Doyle is almost certainly out as he had to hobble through the latter stages after Town used all their substitutes and even bravely came back on when McNulty was sent off.

Still added: “He hurt his knee, we’ll have to have a look at it, but he’s not going to be fit for Saturday, although I don’t know the extent of the injury at the moment.”
