Still not overly affected by Red Devils’ second half horror show

However, Town then looked a shadow of themselves after the interval, conceding twice, but Still isn’t going to let it cloud his judgement when selecting a side against the O’s.

He said: “I was really disappointed with the quality of our football in the second half, it was like switching a light off from the first half to the second half.

“That was really disappointing, but this being football we have a chance to rectify that.

“That’s why I have this never too high, never too low. You can never be over affected by a one-off, you can’t be, you have to go on what you’ve seen and what you know.

“I know what we’re going to do, I won’t be affected by 45 minutes, although I might be affected by two games of three games of it.”

When asked if the players had given a reason for their insipid performance after the break, Still continued: “They didn’t get a chance, I said it all for them.

“I just reminded everybody that there’s going to be disappointments in games, disappointments at a part of a game, but that shouldn’t be a reason not to win.

“You haven’t got to play well every week to win. You can not play well, but we were 1-0 up, had played well in the first half, and they had one shot.

“I thought at half time they’ll go really long and try and get behind us, so I said we might be forced back. But that was okay, when we regain the ball let’s move it quick and we can get back at them.

“By and large we regained the ball and when we passed it, it was shocking.

“We couldn’t get out and when we did get out, our front two didn’t hold the ball up well enough and we couldn’t get up the pitch.

“Their goal came from a cross where we didn’t mark properly. We did the stats, they had three shots on target second half, well we should be good enough not to concede.

“The second is a decent strike and it’s gone in, the first goal was too poor and we shouldn’t have got beat on Saturday regardless of how we played.

“The last thing we said to the players before they went out, don’t give away free kicks as they’ll just want to load balls into our box and we did just that.

“We were so good in the first half, for an away performance, but it’s 90 minutes and I have to take that on the chin.”
