Luton attacker Sam Nombe has been tipped to play more of a role for the Hatters during their final 10 games of the season.

The 22-year-old made his first Championship appearance for almost two months when coming on against Coventry City during the 2-0 midweek victory at Kenilworth Road, playing the final nine minutes.

Booked within moments of coming on, he then missed a glorious chance to open his account for the club in stoppage time, shooting straight at visiting keeper Ben Wilson from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's cross when clean through on goal.

Although that was only his seventh league outing since arriving on loan from MK Dons in October, all from the bench, his cameo did enough to impress assistant boss Mick Harford, who said: “Sam has been patient, he’s had to be patient because he hasn’t really had an opportunity in terms of having time on the pitch.

"In the coming games and the coming weeks, we believe he will play some part in the games.

"He had a good cameo the other evening when he came on and he made a big impact on all of us as a coaching staff.

"He came on and he ran around, got himself busy and he looked strong and powerful and pacey.

"Certain players belong on the big pitch and he looks like he needs the big pitch to improve, but the only way he’s going to get better is by playing games and unfortunately he hasn’t forced himself into the team at the moment.

"I’m sure he’ll get some game time coming towards the end of the season.”
