Town boss knows efforts to sign Leicester City midfielder Dewsbury-Hall again next season are 'out of our hands'

Luton boss Nathan Jones would love to extend the stay of Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall at Kenilworth Road next season, but knows that decision will be out of his hands.

The 22-year-old has had a starring role for Town this term, playing 35 times for the Hatters, scoring twice, with five assists to his name as well.

Dewsbury-Hall is highly regarded at the King Power Stadium though, handed a new four year contract before moving to Town, with Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers almost recalling him in January after suffering some injuries to his squad.

The midfielder has declared himself he would 'seriously consider' a return next term, and when asked if he harboured hopes about bringing him back to Luton for a second campaign, Jones said: “We’ve had thoughts about that from the day that he walked through the door, even before that.

“It’s a little bit out of our hands, but everything that we need to do is in motion.

“We’re never slow on the uptake to do certain things with our football club and the wheels are in motion to move us forward.”

Jones always expected Dewsbury-Hall to make the best of his time with the Hatters this year after being impressed when scouting him on numerous occasions during his time with Blackpool in League One last season, as the Town manager added: "When we recruit, we used to get something that was at the level, for example when we bought James Collins in League Two, Danny Hylton, we knew that they were finished articles at that level, we knew they were ones to get us promoted.

"But when we recruit, we always recruit for levels above, so to do that, we can’t go out and spend 25, 30 million on a player that we think is ready for the level.

"What we have to do is get people in that we feel with work and time and if they buy into everything and if we support them and encourage them and teach them and work with them, then we can get them to that level.

"We knew that Kiernan was at a certain level and we knew the work that we do if he bought into it, which he has done, tenfold, he would be a success here and he has been.

"For me he’s just consummate, he’s everything you’d want in a player, a lad, a pro, a human, fantastic.

"He’s been a wonderful addition and we don’t like taking loans here, but he’s why we do.”
