Town boss wants strikers firing on all cylinders

Brabin focusing on club’s play-off campaign

GETTING all Town strikers firing on all cylinders is one of new manager Gary Brabin’s main priorities ahead of the Hatters likely play-off campaign, writes Mark Wood.

The new boss started Danny Crow and Matthew Barnes-Homer for the second successive match at Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday, although that might have to change against Kettering this Tuesday after Crow picked up an injury late in the game.

Brabin said: “I want to be in the position going into the final and semi-finals of the play-offs with four strikers on fire.

“We’ve also got Jason Walker as well and I want to involve him.

“We’ve got Lloyd (Owusu) too but we know what he can do, he is a good, experienced player.”

The boss is also looking for winger Claude Gnakpa to recapture his form of earlier in the season, while he is pleased with the way former Cambridge United charge Robbie Willmott is settling in.

Brabin added: “I don’t want to be in a position where we have to rely on Claude and if he is honest, he hasn’t been in form in the last month.

“We had Robbie Willmott in the side and he gave us some different options.”
