Luton Town defender Peter Kioso has signed on loan with League One Northampton Town for the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old was joined the Hatters from National League side Hartlepool during the last year's January transfer window, spending the first half of the 2020-21 campaign on loan with League Two Bolton Wanderers, making 14 appearances and scoring thee goals.

He was recalled by Luton earlier this month though with boss Nathan Jones needing him due to injuries and positive Covid tests in his squad, but admitted he could well be loaned out again.

That has now happened, Kioso moving to a Cobblers side who are struggling, sitting fourth bottom of the table, but do have ex-Hatters Alan Sheehan and Lloyd Jones in their ranks.

Northampton boss Keith Curle said: "Peter came on our radar when he was at Hartlepool a couple of years ago.

"We've monitored him and he did very well when he went out on loan a Bolton earlier in the season.

"He's attack-minded but he's a good one-on-one defender and he will compete at the back post aerially and he loves a tackle.

"He also likes to get on the front foot and and he can use a football in terms of pass selection and getting forward.

"He won't shy away from the physical challenge or the tactical challenge and he's a bright lad who's ready to take the step up.

"We thank Luton for seeing us as a club who can help Peter's development and progression.

"He's a young player with aspirations to play in the Championship and in the Premier League.

"He wants the challenge of playing in League One and it's another tick in the box for the recruitment department."
