The 38-year-old is ready to start his sixth campaign at Luton after joining in 2009 from Peterborough, making over 250 appearances.

He has witnessed Town boss John Still’s huge shake-up of the playing personnel during the close season, with 11 new signings and 15 departures too.

When asked if the current squad were the best since he arrived, he said: “Probably, I’d say that, along with the first season when we were in non-league, we had some good players then.

“Players moving in and out are part and parcel of football, but if you look at the squad this time last year, it’s nowhere near what we’ve got this year, with the difference in calibre of players.

“It’s a new chapter for the club and the board have done terrific to get the players they have in the summer.”

Tyler has also been impressed by the switch in Still’s recruitment, as he moved away from the non-league scene, to proven, established players, a couple with international experience too.

Out of all the additions though, there was one that had particularly caught Tyler’s eye as he said: “Probably the one who has stood out for me is Danny Green.

“The quality he’s got is unreal, his crossing is frightening in training.”
