Under-par Hatters get just what they deserve

LUTON Town boss Richard Money felt his side got exactly what they deserved as Hatters were soundly beaten 3-1 by Fleetwood Town at Kenilworth Road on Saturday, writes Mike Simmonds.

Town had taken an early lead through Lloyd Owusu’s fourth strike of the season on seven minutes, but the Cod Army equalised within moments when Gareth Seddon netted.

Anthony Barry then stunned the home crowd with a magnificent blast after the break, while Seddon capitalised on some more poor defending on 55 minutes to make it 3-1.

Money didn’t mince his words when asked for his reaction on the defeat, as victories for AFC Wimbledon and Crawley Town saw Hatters slip to seven points off the top of the table.

He said: “I thought they (Fleetwood) played extremely well and deserved to win, that’s that out of the way.

“But from our point of view, when you’ve got so many who have been in such good form, play so poorly, all at the same time, you get a result and a performance like that and that is it in a nutshell.

“Other than that I can only apologise to the supporters for a very rare poor performance.”
