Striker Charlie Walker is starting to get to grips to life as a professional footballer according to Town boss John Still.

The summer signing from Ryman One South side Peacehaven has been on the bench for the last few first team games as Still said: “Charlie Walker is looking better and better.

“He’s scoring goals and is getting up to the level after coming from part time to full time.

“He was tired for a long time, but he’s over that now and contributing.”

Walker continued his good scoring run for the development side, netting twice in their 5-2 Final Third League Cup triumph over Gillingham on Tuesday afternoon.

Team-mate Paul Benson said: “He’s a good player, he just needs a bit of guidance on the pitch on positions he needs to take up.

“Not necessarily in the box as I think he’s a goalscorer, so will always take up good positions in the box.”

Although another new addition over the summer, Ricky Miller, has been loaned to Dover Athletic, Still wasn’t so sure that he would do the same with Walker.
