Wall’s treble included one from the penalty spot, while he was joined on the scoresheet by right-back Curtley Williams and strikers Ricky Miller and Charlie Walker.

First team coach Hakan Hayrettin told the club’s official website: “It was a hugely encouraging performance, especially when you consider that Wycombe are in the same league as us.

“We were slow out of the traps, but we did well to compete against good opposition.

“To score six goals against any team at any level is pleasing.”

Luton’s development squad begin their Final Third Development League campaign next month when AFC Bournemouth visit Kenilworth Road on Tuesday, September 9.

Hayrettin is looking forward to seeing the team in competitive action, after the new division was announced in the summer.

He added: “As far as we’re concerned nothing changes – the only difference will be putting points on the board.

“Our ethos has been, and always will be, to win games, to maintain a winning mentality, and prepare the players in the right way should the manager require players for the first team squad.”
