The 31-year-old left Luton after spending almost six years at the club in May after he wasn’t offered a new deal by boss Nathan Jones.

Lawless has since penned a one year contract at Huish Park and is expected to make an instant return when his new side go up against Hatters today after starting both of the Glovers matches so ar this term.

McGeehan said: “He’s a top man, Laws. I was disappointed to see him go.

“I think we’ve got that younger approach this year but he’s a very good player and it will be a tough task against him and a different game to this one against Villa.

“It’s a League Two game; more scrappy, more fight, more oomph in the game, but it will be good to see him and I’m sure he’ll be right up for it.”

Meanwhile, recent signing Jake Gray is fully focused on today’s test after the thrill of knocking Championship side Aston Villa out of the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.

He added: “We’ve just got to carry on what we’ve done and keep on showing everyone what we can do. Everyone’s excited about what we can achieve this year, but it’s nice to win the cup match and maybe go on a little cup run.

“Everyone knows league is main priority though and we’re ready to go on Saturday.”
