Molten Spartan SML round-up: Kent Athletic v Totternhoe ends all square

The 61FC (Luton) enjoyed a 3-1 victory over Willen in Molten Spartan SML Division Two on Saturday.

Grendon Rangers earned a 2-0 victory over Caddington, while local rivals Kent Athletic and Totternhoe shared in a 2-2 stalemate.

A Kent defender was caught ball watching 10 minutes in as Totternhoe’s Gary Simpson scored at the second attempt after his first effort had draw a fine save from Nick Gardner.

Kent started to dominate and the Totts’ keeper and defenders kept them at bay until the 37 minute when Pat Daly was brought down in the box by the keeper and Jason Penman fired home the resulting penalty to make it 1-1 at the break.

The hosts then took the lead two minutes into the second half through Daly, who was then sent off 10 minutes later for a second bookable offence.

That changed the course of the game as 10-man Kent’s resistance was finally broken with 10 minutes to go when former Kent player Ross Scott levelled.

Reserve Division One saw Kent Athletic Reserves draw 2-2 at London Lions Reserves, while Oxhey Jets Reserves beat The 61FC (Luton) Reserves 2-0.
