Molten Spartan SML round-up: Kent edge past Aston Clinton in Anagram Records Trophy

Kent Athletic won through the second round of the Molten Spartan SML Anagram Records Trophy with a 2-1 victory over Aston Clinton on Saturday.

All the goals came in the first half with strikes from Jack Magill (11) and Craig Meyrick (30) putting the hosts ahead, before a lapse in concentration a minute later allowed Sam Bramley to pull a goal back.

Two more chances fell to Simon Richards before the break, but he failed to converted, while Aston Clinton’s efforts to push for an equaliser were repelled.

The 61 FC (Luton) lost out 2-0 to Wolverton Town in Division Two as late goals from Mark Toms (82) and Lee Erswell (88) won it for the visitors.

Totternhoe triumphed 5-2 at Willen thanks to a hat-trick from Ryan Smith (46, 52 and 80) and a brace from Lee Loasby (48 and 62), with Karl Ainsley (68) and Ryan Guinnane (83) replying for the hosts.

Reserve Division One saw AFC Dunstable lose 3-2 at home to Baldock Town, Cockfosters thrash The 61 FC (Luton) 6-0 and Kent Athletic win 4-1 at Stotfold thanks to a brace from Wayne Hymus and goals from Eamon Sweeney and Rhys Calvano as manager Karl Abella had to go in goal at the end.

Meanwhile, in Reserve Division Two, Totternhoe’s game with Aston Clinton was postponed and Crawley Green triumphed 4-0 at Winslow United to maintain their 100 per cent league record with goals from Jamie Sawyer, Aaron Wilson, Jarred Isles and Anthony Wright.

The 61 FC (Luton) go to Belstone in the second round of the Anagram Records Trophy on Saturday, while in Division Two Totternhoe head to Grendon Rangers and Kent Athletic visit New Bradwell St Peter.

Reserve Division One sees AFC Dunstable go to Holmer Green, Kent Athletic host Risborough Rangers and The 61 FC (Luton) entertain Hadley, while in Reserve Division Two Totternhoe are at home to Langford.
