No grudge for Vassell ahead of potential Plymouth return

Hatters striker Isaac Vassell doesn't bear any grudges against Town's opening day opponents Plymouth Argyle, although would love to show the Pilgrims just what they missed out on if he gets the chance on Saturday.

The 22-year-old was released by Plymouth back in 2014 after spending three years at Home Park, making 10 appearances in total.

He could be part of the Luton squad who head to Devon for the League Two curtain-raiser this weekend and on his return, said: “I don’t really think about that one too much, I’ve got a great respect for Plymouth and everything they’ve done for me.

“So it will just be good if I can get on the pitch to show people what I can do and maybe what they missed out on, but there’ll be no grudge there or anything like that.”

Vassell penned a one year deal with Luton after a successful trial spell with the club recently, as he was a player who had boss Nathan Jones admitted had been on his radar for a while.

The forward added: “There was some interest there towards the end part of last season when I was doing well. I think they wanted me in but for whatever reason I couldn’t come in.

“He (Jones) knows about me so hopefully I can prove him right in his decision.

“They were always in contact with people that speak to me and they said as soon as they’re back from Hungary they’d get me in and look at me.

“There was a lot of pressure (being on trial) but I think I did well enough and obviously I did to show him that I can be worked with.

“It’s positive for me and hopefully I can offer something different with my pace and what-not, so hopefully it all comes together.”
