Two outstanding strikes from Sam Peverall edged Crawley Green to a well-deserved 2-1 victory over New Bradwell St Peter.

On a heavy pitch with the wind at their backs, Crawley kicked up the slope and took the game to Bradwell as George Shrieves had a header deflected for a corner.

Green continued to press and after 15 minutes Peverall saw his free kick saved by Joel Harfield, while Aaron Browne headed wide.

Peverall’s free kick went over, while he teed up Craig Savage who missed a sitter, before keeper Dean Bull blocked a Bradwell effort.

The visitors then took the lead on 30 minutes with a stunning strike from Peverall who lashed into the top corner from 35 yards.

Bull denied Lewis Delahaye from distance, while JJ Billy broke clear only to shoot wide for Crawley.

Five minutes into the second half Crawley doubled their lead as Browne’s cross was smashed home on the volley by Peverall.

Bradwell responded two minutes later as Dan Smith made it 2-1, but Crawley kept pushing for a third.

Stuart Strange and Savage both went close for Crawley, as did Liam Toomey and Henry Mungwira.

The hosts almost levelled with 10 minutes to go when Ellis Spence was left unmarked but could only shoot straight at Bull.
