Rovers close in on play-offs

Southern League Aylesbury FC 0 Barton Rovers 3

AN incident-packed encounter saw Barton Rovers record their second 3-0 away win in four days as they triumphed at struggling Aylesbury FC in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central on Tuesday night.

Despite missing two penalties, with Bobby Dance and Russell Bull the guilty culprits, having two goals disallowed, one from Ricky Case (handball) and the other by Dave Parkinson (offside), while also hitting the post twice, Rovers dominated the game from start to finish as they overcame their nine-man neighbours.

Aylesbury were limited to just one shot on target which forced a good save from keeper Richard Wilmot on 25 minutes who then wasn’t called upon for the remainder of the game.

Both sides had gone all out for victory with Barton showing class and determination.

Both man of the match Bull (68) and Dance (84) made up for their penalty misses with a strike apiece, while the goal of the evening came from a great run down the left and a fine finish by Dave Parkinson a minute after the break.

Aylesbury played an hour with 10 men as Ben Stevens was shown a straight for a challenge from behind on Bull.
