Barton Rovers earned a hard-fought point at fellow play-off chasers Rugby Town at the weekend.

Knowing a win would see them leapfrog their opponents, Barton started the better and Rugby defending for their lives with Lewis Putman dragging wide and Ben Sawyer firing into the side-netting.

However, Rugby hit back too, as they hit the post on 25 minutes.

In the second period, Connor Vincent had an effort cleared off the line before Paul Andrews saw his powerful header well saved by home keeper Neil Collett.

The last 15 minutes were dominated by Barton as Collett made a string of excellent stops, with the best effort from Rhys Hoenes.

Rovers are at home to St Ives this evening.
