The visitors were sluggish from the off and allowed Guernsey to take control.

Rovers did have chances though as Tony Burnett went clean through, only to be denied by keeper Chris Tardif.

Guernsey broke the deadlock on 19 minutes when a Mark Mcgrath shot beat Kyle Forster.

The hosts’ second goal on 24 minutes angered Rovers management as a throw-in was taken quickly with a different ball from the match ball, despite multi balls not being allowed.

As Barton switched off, Dave Rihoy netted and the Green Lions led 2-0, with Rovers’ staff remonstrating towards the officials.

In the second period, Barton changed formation and jumped out of ‘jetlag’ mode, looking like a team on a mission.

They pressed forward in numbers but failed to break down a resilient home defence.

Guernsey added two more breakaway goals both through Luke Winch as they finished emphatic 4-0 winners.
