Rovers lose out to title-chasing Goldalming Town

Dan Read’s 78th-minute striker saw Barton Rovers lose 1-0 at Evo-Stik Southern League Division One title-chasers Godalming Town on Tuesday night.

Barton had a solid game and held off a host of chances but eventually the pressure told as Read scrambled home a header.

Rovers could have got a point out of the game with a free-kick at the death right on the edge of the area, but returning George Brinkman’s shot was blocked by some resolute defending.

Next up, Barton host high-flying neighbours Biggleswade Town on Saturday.
