Slip End crowned winners at Carrow Road

Slip End United finished their season in style with a resounding 5-1 victory over East Anglian Combination side Thetford Rovers in the Ted Zipfel Trophy at Carrow Road on Sunday.

Former Luton Town youngster Newman Carney opened the scoring with a penalty on eight minutes, before Alex Howells crashed home a 25-yard volley and then Carney added his second from fully 35 yards.

Cameron Nagle added a sublime fourth just before the break, and then lobbed the keeper in style in the second period.

Rovers scored a consolation goal five minutes from time, but it was United captain Joe Flemons who lifted the trophy.
