Falcons were up against it early on playing into an almost gale force wind and against an extremely physical side.

But they weathered the storm and took the lead when Rakeem Kamara capitalised on a defensive mix-up and rounded the Blues keeper to calmly roll the ball into the empty net to lead at the break.

Kane O’Neill got on the end of James O’Dell’s terrific second half free-kick to double their lead and, despite a late consolation goal in the dying minutes of the game, Falcons held on.

Rovers made a laborious start to an untidy game, but almost took the lead when a quick break saw Lewis Bland latch on to a through ball and force an excellent save from the opposition keeper.

Totternhoe had had the better of the early possession and their efforts were rewarded when an incisive pass was neatly finished into the far corner.

And a second soon followed when a lofted cross eluded everyone as it nestled into the far corner after Barton had failed to clear from a corner.

Barton battled bravely in the second half. Bland outpaced Totternhoe’s defence on a couple occasions to force saves, while Joseph Purslow at the other end raced from his line more than once to cancel out the opposition attacks. Solomon Page Godfrey worked tirelessly in midfield and deserved more for his efforts.
