Former Hatters keeper makes Northampton Saints debut

LUTON teenager Ben Nutley made his Premiership bow for Northampton Saints as they ground out a 26-24 opening day victory over Gloucester on Sunday, writes Mark Wood.

The former Luton Town youth team keeper and Luton Rugby starlet played the full 80 minutes and relished the occasion. He said: “The game was definitely a step up for me. I’ve played in the Wanderers (Saints’ second team) and in the LV= Cup, but the Premiership is something else.

“The physicality was right up there, and with it being the first game of the season everyone was buzzing before the game. But as I said, I really enjoyed the experience.”
