GOLF: South Beds duo in England Schools call

South Beds Golf Club member Alex Bithrey has been selected to play for England Schools against Scotland Schools at Southport and Ainsdale GC in September.

Club-mate and Luke Charnley was also named as a reserve for both internationals.

Meanwhile, the pair both impressed at the NASUWT England Schools National Championship held at Enfield GC last weekend.

Both players benefited from strong afternoon displays with Bithrey shooting a one under 70.

Charnley managed a level par 71, although he had been three under at one stage earlier his round.

Bithrey’s consistency throughout the day was the key to his successful 144 total (74/70) and 11th place finish.

Charnley’s disappointing morning session saw him shoot 79 for a 151 total.
