Hildreth wins Cambridge consolation event

The youngster was beaten in the main event by third seed Phoebe Collins, but went on to win the consolation prize after victories over Ellie Chawner and then a whitewash of Parisa Fatemi-Ghomi in the final.

She also reached the final of the Onhotels.com Bradfield College Easter Open U12 girls singles event in Berkshire.

After receiving a bye in the first round, the tennis ace beat Ellie Spark and Sophia Murray, but was defeated 4-6, 7-5 (10-7) by Erin Oelmann in the final.

Hildreth, who is ranked third in the county at U12 level, also took part in the Rickmansworth Open, but went out to Rebecca Saunders in qualifying. She is next in action this weekend, representing Halton in a U12 Aegon Premier Division team event at Taunton.
