In the second half, Hertford pulled one back and then levelled through a penalty flick.

Chiltern almost snatched a winner as Lorna Pead, in her final game for the club after 17 seasons with the side, went close, while Cook’s effort was blocked on the line.

In Division Three, the IIs drew 1-1 at home with Hertford IIIs.

The hosts took the lead when Libby Wright, Bev Siddons and Hilary Ward combined to find Chloe Hutton, who drew the defender before finding Shannon Conder to score.

Hertford quickly drew level though, while in the second half, Chiltern went close when Fiona Devitt’s fantastic solo run saw her pass flash across goal.

Late on, Hertford raised their game and player of the match, goalkeeper Teresa Ashby, made a string of brilliant saves to ensure a point.

Division Five saw Chiltern IIIs enjoy a 2-0 win over Luton IIIs. The visitors dominated the opening stages and moved ahead when Loraine Cherrill netted.

After the break, Chiltern had a second when Paula Sinfield netted a lovely shot.

Carly Grimmer came close to a third, as did Rachel Steventon and Leah Gourley, while player of the match went to Jos Merriman.

The IIIs also played Broxbourne, losing 3-1 as Natalie Cook netted with Cherrill named star player, but it mattered not as the side have already secured promotion to Division Four.
