HOCKEY: Luton Town HC beaten by Stortford

Luton Town HC men’s first team were defeated 2-1 by Bishop’s Stortford IIs in East Men’s Division Three South West on Saturday.

The hosts were unable to break down the strong Stortford defence who worked well to convert two well worked counter attacks.

Luton’s man of the match was Phil Bright, while the seconds lost 6-0 at Royston IIs in Division Four South West.

The IIIs ensured safety in Division Seven South West by hammering Royston 5-2 thanks to goals from Carter Bright, Sam James, Cameron Bright, Robin Barnes, while man of the match was Steven Pierce.

The ladies first team enjoyed a 4-1 home win over Stevenage IIs thanks to goals from Clare Philby, Charlotte Dunham and Jodi Nicole (2).

The IIs were beaten 5-1 by Stevenage as despite drawing 1-1 at half time, they conceded four goals in the second period.
