HOCKEY: Luton Town HC earn cup win

Luton Town HC men’s team beat Leighton Buzzard 4-1 in their second round NOW: Pension Vase Cup clash on Sunday.

The hosts controlled the game early on, but failed to break the deadlock.

It took a moment of brilliance from Matthew Corder to produce the opener as he dissected the Leighton defence and Cameron Bright netted with a simple slap shot.

Cameron Sarrington added the second, but Leighton reduced the deficit five minutes before the break.

In the second period, Tommy Kavanagh continued his fine form as he struck a post, before Town won a penalty flick as Cameron Bright was illegally denied, and Graham Bright stepped up to convert.

The final moments saw Luton wrap up victory as Bryn Owen found Graham Bright and he fired home to set up a third round tie at Phoenix & Ranelagh.

Meanwhile, the firsts had let a 3-0 lead slip as they lost 5-3 at home to Brentwood in their East Men’s League Division Two South encounter on Saturday.
