Jonnie Peacock drops in to visit Luton Kingfishers

Luton Kingfishers Diving Club performed an outstanding diving display in front of an audience of VIP’s, including HRH The Duke of Kent, to mark the opening of their new home, the Inspire: Luton Sports Village.

David Jenkins and Harry Glover, the new diving coaches with Active Luton, organised the display, which was a ‘waterfall display’ of dives by 16 members of the Kingfishers.

The club was also given the chance to speak to Paralympic gold medallist star Jonnie Peacock.

Coach Jenkins said: “I was really impressed with the standard the divers performed at.

Luton Kingfishers DC were the first club in the UK to host an annual inter-club event and this year they are celebrating their 25th Luton Challenge event.

Rebecca Gallantree, the 3m individual and 3m synchro Olympic diver will be diving during the weekend as will many other international divers including Shanice Lobb, Jenny Cowen and Sam Thornton.

The Luton Challenge will be at the Inspire on Friday, November 23, from 8.45am to 8pm, Saturday, November 24, from 8am to 7.50pm and on Sunday, November 25 from 8am to 5.30pm.

The event is free to the public, while programmes cost £3.
