KARATE: Burkitt wins second national title in Glasgow
Luton-based Kaizen Central karate member Carla Burkitt has won her second national title of the year, with victory at the British Championships (-61kg) at the Emirates Stadium in Glasgow.
Burkitt, 25, who had already won the English Championships, has also been successful on the international stage this year too beat Scottish number one Olivia Hand and England number three Jasmine Pomeroy on her way to victory.
Coach Willie Thomas said: “Carla has had a fantastic start to the year, who in addition to her domestic titles has also won two international bronze medals against world-class opponents.”
