LDSC secure Herts League promotion

Having twice lost at Gosling, Luton & Dunstable Squash Club’s first team triumphed 16-7 at the club’s seconds in the Herts League to claim promotion.

Second string Scot Adam and fourth string Steve Wells both raced 2-0 ahead.

However, Adam’s form nose-dived as he lost 3-2 to Steve Currie, while Wells lost the third to Sid Newborn before winning the fourth on a tie-break to triumph.

Top seed Kachinga Kabwe and the ever-reliable third string Craig Basham ran out 3-0 victors over Chris Ginn and Mike Lindores, although Kabwe came the closest he has all season to dropping a game.

Fifth string and captain Paul Main, though, couldn’t break his duck as he went down 3-0, despite playing well against Martin Parsall.

LDSC now have two home matches remaining this season knowing that two victories will deliver the first title at their first attempt.
