Lewsey Centre celebrate great and good members

Almost 200 people attended Lewsey Centre’s Annual Awards Evening on Saturday, where a number of people were honoured for their efforts during the year.

MP for Luton North Kelvin Hopkins, leader of the council Hazel Simmons, Mayor Syd Knight and local councillors Joan Bailey and Tom Shaw (Challney Ward) were among those who were in attendance.

It was Mr Hopkins and the Mayor who handed out the awards.

A total of 34 awards were presented to adults and children, with a Special Volunteer Award going to Halima Hannan.

Having started his karate career as a white belt beginner in 1998 he has achieved plenty in that time and has the best interests of his students at heart.

Tae Kwon-Do Female Student Of The Year: Elle Kym Moore.

Lewsey Rifle & Pistol Club Member Of The Year: Doug Macfarlane.
