Luton AC claimed fine second spot

Luton AC claimed a fine second place at Stockwood Park in their first Southern Men’s League Match of the season on Saturday.

Bexley AC triumphed with 231pts, followed by Luton on 194.5, Medway and Maidstone 149, Marshall Milton Keynes 139.5, Harlow 109.5 and Thurrock 107.5.

Bexley led throughout the match, with Luton, sponsored by Luton Rotary Club, closing towards the end.

Joshua Bada scored an impressive sprint double in the 100m A race, clocking 11.2secs, and 23.1ssecs in the B 200m.

Jordan Warner, running his first event for the club, made up for a false start in the 100m B race with a fine win in the A 200m in 23.4secs.

Luton’s 400m star Nick Choudhury again dipped under 50secs for second place, while Jahmal Williams was runner-up in the B event in 54.5secs.

A blustery wind made it difficult for the middle distance runners, but Jamal Lewis followed his fine win in the London Marathon supporting races, with an excellent third in the 800m on his Senior debut.

Rhys Lewis ran a superb 2.01.6mis for third in the B string, while in the 1,500m Tom Mead and George Ward both returned from injury with second place finishes in 4.19.2mins and 4.29.4mins respectively.
