Luton School Basho their way to medals

IT proved to be another great weekend for the Luton School of Judo as all nine of their entrants in the British Judo Council’s North London Area Basho came away in medal positions.

The event is a contest for five to 16 year olds, run twice a year, where all the area’s clubs can enter their students to test their judo ability.

Eight of the students were entering the competition for the very first time and the club came away with one gold medal, three silvers and another five bronzes.

Conor Sable won the gold, silvers went to Adam Hobbs, Jenna Brady and Kyan Leigh, while Connor Leigh, Huw McGuiness, Leo Rolph, Samuel Barkway and Kristina Matos took bronze.

Three of the club’s instructors, Steven Crowley, Carl Hunt and Richard Hobbs, also entered the Commonwealth Masters held in Cardiff recently, against competitors from all over the Commonwealth, including Australia, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

All three fought well and won bronze medals in their respective categories.
