The 28-year-old right-back – who started his career at Luton Town – presented a host of trophies and medals to students across a number of sports, including rugby, netball and basketball.

The college’s men’s football team finally got their hands on the BCS East League Division Two title they won back in April, while the college’s cricketers were awarded their medals for becoming Indoor 24 National runners-up.

There were also honours for the college’s overall sportsman and sportswoman of the year.

Foley played 151 times for the Hatters between 2003 and 2007 before moving to Wolves and also spoke to the students in the audience.

Leon Popplewell, the college’s sports development officer believes the awards night was a huge success, saying: “It was a good reward for the students, for how well they’ve done.

“They should be proud of what they’ve achieved this year, and it was a nice end to the season.”
