Lutonian opener Sulieman Mohammed hit a fine half century as his side edged past Langford by 11 runs in their Bedfordshire County League Premier Division clash at Lower Wardown Park on Sunday.
The hosts opted to bat after winning the toss and reached 247-8 in 45 overs, as Mohammed made 87, plus contributions from Naeem Khan (38), Muhammad Kamran (48) and Hamid Riaz (20).
In reply, Langford were restricted 236-8 as Aslam Khan claimed 3-25, while pouching a brilliant diving catch, as Naeem Khan (2-44) chipped in too, with youngster Zonaib Ali making a fine run out.
In Division One, the IIs were also involved in a tight match at Eggington Foresters, as they triumphed by 17 runs.
Batting first, Lutonian were dismissed for 127 in 34.1 overs, but their bowlers responded to the task magnificently, with Eggington bowled out for 110.
In the Bedfordshire Invitation League Division One clash at Lower Wardown Park, Lutonian fell to a six wicket defeat against Houghton Chargers.
The hosts opted to bat and made 196-8 in 45 overs as Asif Akhtar hit an unbeaten 39, while Asif Mushtaq (28), Malik Sadiq (27) and Zaheer Ahmed (22) added valuable runs.
However, Chargers were never unduly troubled, easing to 198-4 with fives overs left as Malik Sadiq took 2-36 and Tahir Ishaq claimed 1-34.
The Division Three match for the IIs at Henlow saw the hosts concede the points to Lutonian.

The hosts made 108-9 thanks to Siyam Khan’s unbeaten 37, before Eversholt also made 108-9, with wickets for Aqeel Hussain (4-13), Armaan Sandhu (1-15) and Uzair Amjad (1-18).
In the U12s South Division at Langford, Lutonian beat their hosts by 32 runs.
The hosts opted to field first as Lutonian put an impressive 215-6 on the board from 20 overs, with Zulkifl Malik (25), Armaan Sandhu (13no), Aqeel Hussain (13) and Rahim Rayasat (12no) all contributing.
Langford fell short at 183-4 in reply, with Anees Ramzan taking 2-3, Rayan Shafi 1-2 and Sandhu 1-25.
