Putteridge SC have enjoyed a great season across juniors and masters starting off with club Tri coaches Graeme Crowston and Jonathon Hoggett competing in the European Age group Duathlon Championships in Spain.

Hoggett finished high enough to automatically qualify for next year’s championships in Germany.

Meanwhile, Matt Hyland and Crowston competed in the Ironman triathlon in Austria, Hyland’s first ever attempt at that distance with Crowston clocking up his third.

Nathan Scott and Frankie Durbin were in Chicago for the Age Group triathlon World Championships, both performing superbly, with Durbin also went in the aquathlon picking up bronze in her age group.

In the Juniors, Sophie Mabbs and Jess Thorn raced impressively in the East Region League to claim silver and bronze for their season results.

The club has seen excellent growth in both masters and juniors sections with a number of members going on to compete in their first triathlon events.

In the Modern Biathlon, Putteridge members competed in the East region champs with fantastic results.

Matthew Haden (third), JJ Wilde (second), Aisling Hargodan (fifth) and Daniel Millar (second) all did
themselves and the club proud with their efforts.

Haden went on to compete in the Nationals in Solihull claiming ninth in his age group.

In the Modern Triathlon, the East Region Championships saw more success for Putteridge members with Durbin, Haden, James Mabbs and Sophie Mabbs all winning their age groups.

Alannah Mabbs had some trouble with her pistol in the shooting and finished fourth, but they all managed to qualify for the National Championships.

The Nationals saw Durbin claim silver, Haden just being pipped into fourth place with Alannah Mabbs seventh and James Mabbs 24th.

Recently Haden has been invited onto the Modern Pentathlon National Talent Programme, which Alannah Mabbs and Sophie Mabbs are already part of.
