Moss raring to Blitz the Boars

Lutonian Mark Moss will look to make history when he leads his London Blitz American Football side into action at the EFAF Cup final on Saturday, writes Mike Simmonds.

No English side has ever won the competition, with Farnham Knights coming the closest in 2004, losing to Papa Joes Tyrolean Radiers.

Standing in Blitz’s way are Serbian opponents, the Kragujevac Wild Boars, for the match that will be held at Finsbury Park Stadium in north London.

With home advantage in their favour, Blitz have been made favourites to lift the cup by some parties, but Moss doesn’t see it that way.

He said: “I would have said it was 50/50. Some people may put us slight favourites being at home.

“They’ve got some American imports. One’s the head coach, two other guys play top quality college football in the States. They’re a quality outfit.”
