Stockwood Park lost 20-13 to Pershore in a hard-fought Midlands Senior Vase quarter-final on Saturday.

Aaron Beattie scored for Park in the first half and Jason Carr slotted over a penalty as players battled hard to gain any kind of fluency in muddy conditions at London Road.

A James Hankey try in the second half wasn’t enough though as Pershore scored two tries in each half after stopping wave-after-wave of Stockwood attacks.

Chairman Jason Carr said: “The muddy conditions prevented us playing the flowing rugby that we like to play and we also scuppered several opportunities to cross their line following long spells of pressure in their half.

“But to their credit they defended well to nullify our attack, while also taking their chances to punish us on the counter-attack and in the ruck and maul breakdowns due to a strong pack.”

This Saturday Park head to county rivals Bedford Queens in Midlands Three East South.
