Stockwood Park narrowly missed out on victory at Rugby St Andrews as they down to a 22-21 defeat on Saturday as they dropped to second in Midlands Three East South.

The Luton side were beaten in the last few minutes after arguably their best defensive performance of the season, but they did at least pick up a losing bonus point.

“We thought we had it won and took our foot off the gas,” said chairman Jason Carr. “Hopefully we can do better next week.”

Stockwood’s man-of-the-match, Casey Waterfield, bullocked through in the first half after galloping half the length of the pitch.

Carr added the conversion and then a penalty as Park led 10-8 at half-time.

Waterfield went over for a second after the break and Carr added two more penalties, but it wasn’t enough as Park failed to close out a tight game.

This Saturday Park go to Old Wheatleyans in the third round of the Midlands Senior Vase.
