Stockwood Park were beaten 23-0 by Midlands Three East South leaders Oundle at the weekend.
The table-toppers proved why they are at the top of the table as they withstood some forceful Park attacks with strong defence.
They then had the ability to take advantage of their opportunities on the counter attack in the second half to eventually run out as worthy winners.
Park had an excellent supply of possession and showed on a number of occasions why they can be a potent force.
Unfortunately they fell foul of some inconsistent refereeing which saw six yellow cards handed out, four to Stockwood, all for technical offences.
That left them playing the league leaders for virtually half of the game with 14 men, which proved a handicap too far.
Oundle led 6-0 at halftime and Park had played with spirit and sound defence, led with commitment by skipper Jamie Hoque.
However unforced errors kept Oundle in the game and in the second half they scored 3 tries, one a breakaway to run out winners.
This Saturday Park will look to stay in the promotion race as they entertain local rivals Dunstablians.
