A number of members offered to fill roles at the club’s AGM so that the new Management Committee could spread the ever-increasing list of tasks across a broader breadth of individuals.

On the appointment of long-standing club member and former first team manager, colts manager and youth and mini chairman, Turner, Butten said: “Mark knows the inner workings of the club as well as anyone else having been involved in the club’s management throughout my tenure and his style will very much suit what is needed right now to steer the willing volunteers, so that the club’s objectives are achieved.”

Turner’s day job means that he often works overseas and therefore he will focus on managing the club’s staff and volunteers.

He said: “Luton RFC is massively indebted to Keith, and his family, for their nine years of service.

“I would like to think that I have the trust of the wider membership.

“Now is no time to hide, the club needs the membership’s full support and I am keen to harness the many talents our collective possesses.

“It is important to me and the wider club that Keith remains involved and he has now agreed to take on a strategic development role.

“I am looking forward to a great season on the pitch across the board, as well as moving the whole club forward off it. I will need your help.”

Butten, meanwhile, has committed to take on an important commercial and strategic role.

Butten added: “I am very much looking forward to continuing my contribution to Luton Rugby in a more focused role, one that is crucial if the club is to fulfil its full potential.

“I will be championing all that is great about Luton Rugby and seeking more partners so that the club can extend the benefits it delivers to our community.

“I will also be seeking to support the club management with key strategic matters as I know better than most how difficult it can be for volunteers to address primary objectives when day-to-day issues constantly need to be addressed.”
