Second spot for Luton AC at Stockwood Park

LUTON’s middle distance ladies and male throwers stole the show as an improving Luton AC team, supported by Luton Rotary Club, claimed second place in a close Southern Athletics League finish at Stockwood Park on Saturday.

The match was won by Stevenage and North Herts with 190 points, from Luton (178), City of Norwich (174) and Enfield and Haringey (172).

Claire McMahon was in fine form, winning the 1,500m race in 5.08.4mins, closely followed by B string winner Louise Peters in 5.09.2mins.

The pair teamed up again in the 3,000m, both achieving season’s best times, with McMahon second in 10.30.6mins, while Peters again triumphed in the B race, in 10.32.4mins.
