SQUASH: LDSC beat league leaders

The unbeaten table-toppers fielded a weakened side and the home team looked to capitalise.

Proceedings were kicked off by fourth strings Scot Adam (LDSC) and Brian Hornsby, with Adam taking the first two games.

He switched off in the third though, before recovering to triumph 3-1.

On the second court, LDSC fifth string Matt Carey squared off against the inexperienced Jack Smith.

After winning the first 10 points, Carey never looked back, taking all three games with ease to put his side in a commanding position.

Third strings Craig Basham (LDSC) and Mahdi Ali were next up, as a close opener was settled when Ali scored six unanswered points.

The second was out of Basham’s reach once Ali opened up a five point lead and another run of consecutive points saw Ali complete a 3-0 victory.

Matt Mulara (LDSC) took on Steve Hossent at second string, in a match containing some lengthy and entertaining rallies.

After a close start, Mulara exerted his dominance to take the opening game, carrying this into the second.

The third game was closer, however, Mulara had enough guile to come through and seal the tie for his side.

This meant that the final match of the evening was a dead rubber between first strings Adam Auckland (LDSC) and Dylan Harris.

Auckland, one of several elite players to have represented LDSC over the past couple of years, came through 3-0 with relative ease.

The seconds hosted Biggleswade and it was a case of what might have been.
