SWIMMING: Bradshaw and Carrick star in Dunstable win

Dunstable SC produced a number of superb swims in their Milton Keynes & District Junior Swimming League competition at the Tiddenfoot Pool in Leighton Buzzard on Saturday.

Some of Dunstable’s key young junior swimmers were not available to swim on the night but despite that, the squad had plenty of determination and won the second round quite comfortably.

DSC were up against Linslade Crusaders, Witney & District, Aylesbury, City of Milton Keynes and Modernians as the gala started well, with the club winning four medley and freestyle relays in quick succession.

In the individual swims DSC held their own well and many swimmers gained new club PBs, as at the half way point, they were sitting on 98 points, just four points behind Milton Keynes.

With the most exciting races still to come including the cannon relay, Dunstable were looking in great shape to take the win showing 14 first places and eight second places with only three disqualifications.

In the final set of relays DSC really shone winning four of them overall, including the cannon as they just pipped Milton Keynes.

DSC’s swimmers of the gala went to Oliver Bradshaw and Rhianne Carrick who both performed astonishing swims.

Result: 1, Dunstable, 188pts; 2, City of Milton Keynes, 175; 3, Witney, 169; 4, Modernians, 148; 5, Linslade Crusaders, 143; 6, Aylesbury, 139.
